Secret Squirrel Species in Fillimet | World Anvil

Secret Squirrel

They say that secret squirrels can get into anything because nobody believes they exist, and anyone who sees one forgets about them the moment they no longer see the squirrel. They can get into anything, and nobody's the wiser.   But that's just a myth. Right...?
Secret squirrels are mythical creatures, said to exist only when an individual can see them before reverting back to their mythical status as soon as the individual looks away.   Due to this trait of tripping short term memories the stories involving secret squirrels are varied and imaginative. In some tales the squirrels are used as spies during wars. Others regale their audience of tales of comedy and disaster based upon the actions of a single squirrel nobody could remember seeing. A particular favorite involves a secret squirrel slowly driving an unpopular politician to insanity as a result of its antics, with the politician in question varying depending upon the political climate as interpreted by the story's audience.   None of these stories are true, of course, due to the mythical nature of the squirrel, though. Right...?

MOAR SQUIRRELS! Love these the most I think. The idea that they cease to exist when not observed is a great little touch. It does make me wonder how people make it work with the stories of them being used as spies. How on earth do you do it?!

I mean, do they really cease to exist? Or do you just forget they existed in the first place?   Or maybe they were nothing but an idea, and they only became real because of your belief?   ...or you delusion...?
