History
Policy of Honesty: The Party Game is the latest party game sensation sweeping across the planes of FIllimet. The true origins of the game are unknown, but once an enterprising merchant designed a printed deck for sale in the markets at The Portal Exchange its popularity skyrocketed until all of Fillimet was playing.
Execution
In the standard rules, each round all players are dealt a number of cards equal to the number of players. The round begins, with each player taking a turn as the Questioned, starting with the dealer. The other players take turns selecting a single card from their deck to assign to the Questioned for answer. The Questioned is required to answer these questions truthfully, with at least two full sentences. Upon answering a question the question card is placed in the discard pile.
Once the Questioned has answered all players' questions their turn passes to the next player to become the Questioned and the process begins again. Once everyone has had a turn as the Questioned each player should have one card remaining. These cards are placed in the discard pile and the round ends.
A game can contain as many rounds as desired, and is limited only by the number of cards in the deck and the time available to play.
Components and tools
The game requires a deck of special cards, each printed with a question on one side and a common design on the back. Decks are available on different themes and can be used separately or shuffled together to provide a greater assortment of topics. Wildcards are also available, allowing the holder to devise their own question, although the Questioned has the right to refuse to answer a wildcard question, at which point a random card is drawn from the undealt deck for the Questioned to answer instead.
Participants
Policy of Honesty works best with 2 to 4 players, but can be adapted to suit any number provided enough time is available to allow everyone a turn. During one round each player will take a turn as the Questioned. A game can contain as many rounds as desired depending upon the number of cards in the deck and the amount of time available to play the game.
Observance
Popular as an icebreaker to make new friends or a way to learn more about already close ones, Policy of Honesty can be played at any gathering. There are altered rules available as well for use as a drinking game or even a tool for group therapy.
