Lyrianne of the Song, Part 7
Hymns of Family, Part 7
Back in the temple A'drol shook off Lyrianne's grip on his arm and looked at her expectantly. "You want to tell me what all of that was about?"
Tianna tapped his shoulder. "I'm going to get the kids home. You take as long as you need." She began ushering their children towards the temple door without awaiting his reply.
A'drol gave a quick nod of agreement towards his wife's retreating back before returning his attention back to Lyrianne, his face betraying his worry for their mother. "You look like you understood that a lot more than I do."
"That's my mission." Lyrianne turned her face towards her brother, her intense blue eyes pouring a newfound confidence into his own bewildered gold. "The Goddesses told me they want me to rekindle the flames of the Three Songs! And now, through Mama, they told me where to go: Red Chapel."
A'drol's confusion deepened. "Wait, what now? When did they tell you that?"
"Last night. When I went to the temple after-"
"You broke into the temple?" A'drol's escalating voice was drawing attention from the caretakers spread throughout the temple of the House of Flowers.
"Not so loud. Please." Lyrianne pleaded with her brother, pained. "I didn't actually break in. Goddess Patheia opened the door before I could-"
"Patheia?" A'drol was booming again but he caught himself, adjusting his voice to a loud whisper. "The Goddess Patheia let you in? Herself?"
"Yeah. Although I didn't know it at the time. That's who I was talking to when you saw me by the fire pit."
"You talked to the Goddess all night? Lyrianne, do you know what a big thing this is? It's rare enough to receive a direct request from a Goddess through their prophets, but to follow that with a direct conversation with one of the Goddesses-"
"All three, actually." Lyrianne found amusement in her typically-calm brother's present state, and couldn't help interrupting to further his reaction. "All three of them were there last night.
A'drol gaped at her, open-mouthed and out of words. Lyrianne imagined his mind beginning to fracture under the implications of her words and determined she had taken things a bit too far.
"The Goddesses Xira and Kambiara were through their prophets, though. Only Patheia was there in person."
"Still..." her brother answered weakly, his mind working to make sense of the news. "All three..."
"So it must be important, what they want me to do, right? And then the talk of Red Chapel from Mama this morning..."
"They must want you to go there and spread the Three Songs," A'drol finished.
"Exactly. And I know it's a long shot, but maybe if I do a great job with this, maybe they can cure Mama's Dementia and send her back to us?"
A'drol brightened at the thought. "If you think it would help her, then you definitely have to do it." He grabbed her hand and began to pull her quickly towards the doors from the temple. "I'll help you pack."
